HTSJ - How to say "Good Bye" in Japanese language

Today, we'll learn how to say good bye in Japanese language. There are many ways to say before you leave.


さようなら => sa-you-na-ra or sa-yo-na-ra => Good Bye or Farewell



Word "sa-you-na-ra" rarely use in daily life. People say "sa-you-na-ra" when they don't know that they can meet the others again or not. You can use word "sa-you-na-ra" to be sarcastic to your boyfriend or girlfriend when you don't want to see each other again.


またあいましょう => ma-ta-ai-ma-sho => See you again.



"ma-ta-ai-ma-sho" means "See you again later". People usually say it before they leave as a manner.


じゃ、またね => ja, ma-ta-ne => Bye, See you.



It looks friendly when you say it. Like a friend talk "Bye bye~ see ya" , "Take care" or "Good luck"

HTSJ - How to "Greeting" in Japanese Style

People in Japan greeting in different ways at different times same as "Good Morning" , "Good Afternoon" or "Good Evening".


Greeting : あいさつ => ai-sat-su


greeting at morning :


おはよう(ございます)=> o-ha-you (go-za-i-ma-su) => Good morning


When Japanese people speak , word "ma-su" 'll pronounced "mas". Therefore when you say hello to people in Japan you may say "o-ha-you (go-za-i-mas)" . Word "go-za-i-mas" makes sentence into formal form. It'll look very polite when you said "go-za-i-mas" after word "o-ha-you". You can say "o-ha-you (go-za-i-mas)" when you greeting people who is elder or who is you respected and you can say "o-ha-you" to people who is younger or friends of yours.


greeting at afternoon :


こんにちは => kon-ni-chi-wa => Good afternoon


greeting at evening :


こんばんは => kom-ban-wa => Good evening
